Roosevelt High's Mutlicultural Film Festival PRESENTS: Black Skin, White Mask

When:
Monday, January 7, 2008 - 7:23pm

Jefferson High School’s Multicultural Film Festival presentation January 7th is the first innovative film biography on the preeminent theorist of the anti-colonial movements of the 20th century – Frantz Fanon. His birth (1925) and childhood in the French colony of Martinique to his death in Bethesda, Maryland in 1961 contextualize his tortured inner journey.

Director Isaac Julien leads us through personal interviews, Fanon’s quoted texts, and reenacted film footage. Fanon’s two major works, Black Skin, White Mask and Wretched of the Earth, were pioneering studies of the psychological impact of racism on both colonized and colonizer.
