ST JOHNS MAIN STREET INVITES YOU TO A PUBLIC PRESENTATION BY THE VISITING MAIN STREET RESOURCE TEAM The St Johns Main Street Coalition is holding a Public Presentation on January 26, 2012 from 7:00pm until 8:45pm at the St Johns Community Center located at 8427 N. Central Avenue. This Presentation is a follow-up to a weeklong Resource Team Visit by the National Main Street Center provided by the Portland Main Street Program. The Resource Team members include Portland Main Street program staff and consultants chosen specifically for the community’s needs. The Resource Team has two jobs. The team must first make a candid assessment of the opportunities and issues that affect the St Johns neighborhood district program. This will involve many types of focus group meetings with community members. Second the Resource Team will work collaboratively and independently to develop specific and general recommendations for action in a written report. This report will help to develop at least a 12 to 24 month implementation strategy that will provide the neighborhood commercial district leaders with a sharply focused program. The Resource Team has several areas of purpose and focus of study. To provide advice on how the St Johns Main Street can best accomplish its work plans and goals and provide recommendation for future work plans. To promote local visibility and publicity for St Johns Main Street and to the city of Portland. Devise solutions for specific design, organization, promotion, and economic restructuring issues as well as sustainability issues across the four points. To provide additional information to volunteers and leaders of the St Johns Main Street Program. To promote the importance of a comprehensive, incremental revitalization process as advocated through the National Main Street Four-Point Approach. The Public Presentation is a chance for the community to meet the Resource Team and ask questions and give opinions. Some topics for consideration might include what is the current image of downtown St Johns? How do you see St Johns and what would you like to see the downtown become? What does it mean for St Johns to be successful? What should the Main Street Program accomplish? Please make plans to attend this important Public Presentation as it is about the future of your community.
